Speaker Pelosi Continues Pay To Play System In Congress

After several weeks of negotiations, Speaker Nancy Pelosi finalized an agreement with several transnational companies in which they will provide money and support to Pelosi and other Democratic leaders in exchange for the continuing passage of bills written by their lobbyists. In announcing this deal, Pelosi showed that she intends to do business and conduct herself in the same manner the Republican leadership did in the proceeding congresses they controlled.

In response to criticism that this is unseemly, corrupt and also shuts ordinary citizens and powerless people out of the political process, Pelosi replied, "I'm running a pay to play system here. If ordinary citizens, small companies and others don't have the money to grease the skids, then screw them."

Bring in publicly financed elections and most of the corruption would disappear overnight. Of course, that would be socialism, just like Social Security, Medicare, the GI Bill and all of those other horrible programs that made this country a better place. We can't have that in an Enron society.
