Democrats Join Republicans In Selling Votes & Taking Bribes

Washington, D.C. - Like crack whores selling their wares on a busy street corner, Democratic members of Congress, with their new status as the majority party on Capital Hill, have joined with fellow Republican members of Congress in offering their services to the highest bidder.

The latest example of this exercise in free market politics is clearly demonstrated by the so-called "Patent Reform" bill H.R. 1908 which reads like a patent infringer's wet dream. This bill was written by lobbyists for a handful of the world's largest corporations and will essentially legalize the wholesale theft of property from individual inventors and small companies by these major corporations. To accomplish this goal, these corporations purchased the entire Democratic leadership and gave them their marching orders which they faithfully followed once the checks cleared.

Speaking in support of this open bribery, Speaker Pelosi said, "Look, I know taking handfuls of cash for our votes and letting industry lobbyists write bills is wrong but the Republicans did it when they were in charge, so why shouldn't we? It's not about morality or ethics. Those things don't matter. It's about cold hard cash and that is the American way whether you are a Republican in Congress or a Democrat."

I was just watching C-Span and it is disgusting to see the Democrats acting like the Republicans. They are shutting down the opposition and rushing this bill through. The Democratic Party no longer represents the people. They represent transnational corporations. Their motto should be "screw the little guy".

Okay, I was watching C-Span and I never thought I would say this but John Conyers is a corrupt scumbag who has betrayed his constituents. I have never seen anyone spout so many lies in such a short time.

I don't know anything about this bill and I can't stand the thought of Republicans winning back the congress and keeping the white house. Unfortunately, the Democrats are self-destructing again and I can't think of anything useful they have done. It was the Democrats who gave us NAFTA and have given Bush everything he wanted in Iraq. They didn't stop Roberts and Alito.

If they are not on our side, why should we vote for them?

The only problem is if we don't vote for democrat$, we get stuck with rethuglicans. imho, dems are still better than the rethugs.

I hope enough people are fed up with their senators & reps to make sure they don't vote for any incumbents of either party. What else is there to do? It just sucks.

Democrats need motivated voters to win. If they keep surrending to Bush and acting like Republicans on the take, people will just stay home and not vote at all.

Democrats used to stand for something. I don't know what the hell they stand for now.
